All About Erin Windland
My architectural journey started when I was six years old playing this computer game called Sims. I was fascinated with the side of the game where you could design houses, community centers, and you could even design your own cities. From there, I was hooked.
I am from Ashburn, Virginia, and I am currently a 5th year Architectural Thesis Student at Virginia Tech. I am on track to graduate in May 2019 with a 3.8 GPA.
During my time at Virginia Tech, I have been an active member in the Chi Omega Fraternity, which partners with Make A Wish every year to help raise money and grant wishes for children suffering from terminal illnesses. I also have been an active member in AIAS, which has been a influential, collaborative environment as an architecture student.
In the summers and winters following my third year of college, I interned with a firm in Washington DC. With this internship I gained experiences in numerous areas of the field. I worked on construction documents and space planning in Revit and Autocad. I went on many site visits to get accurate measurements of the site and existing building to be renovated. I worked on finish pallates and boards, as well as sat in on meetings between different product representatives and building managers.
I love traveling to new cities getting to experience a new pace of life, culture, architecture, and of course, food.
